Iceland
About Iceland
A brief history of Iceland, from the first Viking settlement
in Reykjavik, the discovery of America by Leif Eiriksson in
the year 1000, the writing of the Sagas in the 13th century,
the emigration to North America in the last century and much
more. Geography covers climate, information about volcanic and
geothermal activity as well as the flora and fauna of Iceland.
Culture is an introduction you to the people and the language,
the Icelandic name tradition and a lot more from economy to
food and nightlife. |

Transportation
Iceland being an island, the only way of reaching it is
by air or sea. There are daily scheduled flights to Iceland
from mainland Europe and the USA, and most tourists arrive by
air. The country’s location in the middle of the North Atlantic
makes sea transport less feasible in winter, as the sea can
be very rough. Thus sea transport is used for tourism mainly
in the summer. |

The Republic
of Ireland lies in the north Atlantic Ocean and is separated
from Britain by the Irish Sea. The northeastern part
of the island (Northern Ireland) is part of the United Kingdom.
The country's coastline has sandy beaches, semi-tropical bays
and rugged cliffs. The counties of the southwest (Clare, Cork,
Kerry, Limerick and Tipperary) are deservedly celebrated as
areas of great natural beauty from the Dingle Peninsula through
the Burren to the mountains of Connemara. There are a number
of well-equipped, popular resorts. The majority are ideal for
family holidays but there
is a wide range of alternative accommodation on offer from horse-drawn
carriages to exclusive manor house hotels. |

Netherlands |

Holland, wedged
in Europe between Germany, England and
Belgium, is a particularly attractive vacation spot. A country
of breathtaking natural beauty, hundreds of miles of sandy beaches,
modern towns rich in history, its unique Amsterdam, a wealth
of culture, and many, many enticing ways of spending an educational
vacation - or simply a nice, restful one.
Foreign
tourists spend some 13.5 billion Dutch guilders, more than the
total value of all the plants and flowers Holland exports! So
tourism is
a very important factor in the Dutch economy. Over the years
to
come, NBT hopes to considerably increase the scope of foreign
tourism to Holland, in particular in the interest f creating
employment. |

The people
who created Portugal Info have lived in the mainland
of the country for over 35 years. Being one of the smaller countries
in Europe it is often overlooked and left out of the mainstream.
At the same time this is one of its greatest assets as it retains
a dignified restraint towards change! |

Avenue des Champs-Élysées A popular promenade for the ostentatious
aristos of old, the Avenue des Champs-Élysées has long symbolised
the style and joie de vivre of Paris. Encroaching fast-food
joints, car showrooms and cinemas have somewhat dulled the
sheen, but the 2km (1mi) long, 70m (235ft) wide stretch is
still an ideal place for evening walks and relishing the food
at overpriced restaurants.
